Long Term Care
It is a well-known fact that given an option, the majority of those in need of special services and ongoing care would prefer to receive this in their own apartment or home. At a certain point in time, depending on increasing needs, this may no longer be possible nor practical.
A long-term care facility is the service of choice only when the available community services no longer meet the individual’s requirements.
Rather than be seen as something negative, the long-term care facility should be seen as a support that sustains individuals so as not to be overwhelmed by their losses or need for assistance, and allows them to maintain control for the direction of their lives as much as possible.
